Artist, German, 1471 - 1528

This print shows a knight and a horse in an archway. The white horse is in profile, facing the left, with one front leg raised and its lips slightly parted. It has a curly mane and a long tail tied in a knot. Behind the horse is a knight in armor. His back is to us, and he holds a long axe-like weapon. The knight's face is mostly obscured by what appears to be a large helmet shaped like a moth or other bug with large wings. The background includes a stone archway, showing a glimpse of the sky and a wall with a bowl or urn that appears to be emitting smoke. Above the bowl is the date "1505."
