Artist, Belgian, 1823 - 1906

The painting features a woman standing, slightly turned to the left. Her right arm is bent, and her chin is resting on her hand. Her other arm is wrapped around her waist. She has pale skin with rosy cheeks, a long nose, and a mouth that seems to be set in a slight frown. She has long wavy brown hair that falls over her shoulder and down her back, and is wearing draped white fabric across her chest, exposing one of her breasts. Below that she is wearing a long, dark skirt. The background is a blend of earthy green and brown tones.
