Artist, Nigerian, born 1983

This orange-toned painting depicts the head and shoulders of a person who is facing us, looking off to the left. The person has high cheekbones, full lips, and almond-shaped eyes. Their hair is styled in an intricate updo; it appears to have been braided or coiled in several sections, and all of these strands are raised up in the air, connected at the ends to create a structure on top of their head. The person is wearing a top with patterned straps on their shoulders, and they have a small circular earring in one ear. The person’s skin is in shades of orange, with yellow highlights and warm brown shadows. The background consists of stylized tropical foliage in shades of orange and yellow, with some areas of muted green.
